find a new job There is good news for the youth. Companies are recruiting heavily in the organized sector. This information has been received from the date of Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO). According to EPFO, 14.63 lakh new people got jobs in the organized sector in November 2024. This is 4.88 percent more on annual basis. This information was obtained from the payroll data of employees kept on fixed pay scales. The increase in the number of net PF subscribers reflects increased employment opportunities and increased awareness about employee benefits, the Labor Ministry said in a statement. This has been strengthened by the effective outreach initiatives of EPFO. The ministry said that on a monthly basis, the net membership growth as compared to October 2024 stood at 9.07 percent.
Job opportunities will increase in these states
Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Gujarat, Delhi, Telangana and Uttar Pradesh witnessed an increase of more than five per cent in total individual membership during the month of November. That means, more number of job seekers got jobs in these states. This job figure is provisional as preparing the figures and updating employee records is an ongoing process.
2.40 lakh women also got new jobs
Gender-wise analysis of the data shows that of the new members added during November, 2024, about 2.40 lakh are women. There is an increase of 14.94 percent as compared to October, 2024, while the annual increase is 23.62 percent when compared to November, 2023. Apart from this, the number of net added women members during November was 3.13 lakh, which is 12.16 percent more than October 2024 and 11.75 percent more than November last year. The ministry said the increase in the number of female members is indicative of a broader shift towards a more inclusive and diverse workforce.
State-wise analysis of the data shows that the net member growth in the top five states/UTs is about 59.42 per cent, which together added about 8.69 lakh net members during the month. Among all states, Maharashtra leads the way with a net addition of 20.86 per cent members during November.
Most sought after professionals in the age group of 18-25
EPFO registered about 8.74 lakh new members in November 2024, which is 18.80 percent more than the same month a year ago and 16.58 percent more than October 2024. The ministry said an important aspect of the data is the dominance of the 18-25 age group. 4.81 lakh new members have been added in this age group, which is 54.97 percent of the total new members added in November 2024. In November, 2024, a net number of 5.86 members were added in the age group of 18-25 years, which is 7.96 percent more than in October 2024. The ministry said this is in line with the earlier trend, which shows that the majority of individuals joining the organized workforce are youth. Among these too, mainly there are those who are looking for a job for the first time.
