Jasprit Bumrah won ICC’s special award, became only the second Indian player to do so

Jasprit Bumrah ICC Player Of The Month: ICC has announced the Player of the Month award for the month of December 2024. India’s Jasprit Bumrah has won this award, leaving behind Australia’s Pat Cummins and South Africa’s Dan Patterson. Bumrah had shown a strong performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia in December 2024, for which he has now received the reward in the form of this award.

Strong performance in the month of December

Jasprit Bumrah played a total of three Test matches in the month of December 2024 and he led the bowling attack of the Indian team, taking 22 wickets at an average of 14.22. He was successful in impressing everyone with his bowling. Bumrah had taken four wickets in the first innings of the Adelaide Test. After this, he also presented a brilliant example of bowling in Gabba, in which he destroyed Australia’s batting order by taking 6 wickets in the first innings. He took 9 wickets in the match and due to his efforts the Indian team was successful in drawing the test.

Took a total of 32 wickets in the test series against Australia

Even in the Melbourne Test match, Bumrah continued his excellent performance and took four wickets in the first innings and five wickets in the second innings. In the second innings, he played an important role in all out Australia for 155 runs by taking 5 wickets. On the Australia tour, he emerged as the biggest match winner for Team India and took a total of 32 wickets in the entire series. He completed his 200 test wickets during the series itself.

Jasprit Bumrah had earlier won the Player of the Month Award in June 2024 and now he will be awarded this award for the second time. Bumrah is only the second Indian player to have won the Player of the Month award twice. Before him, Shubhman Gill had won the prestigious award twice.
