Jallikattu organized in Tamil Nadu
Jallikattu competition has started in Avaniapuram in Madurai district of Tamil Nadu. 1,100 bulls and 900 bull-keepers will participate in the event, in which strict rules and safety measures will be in place. Let us tell you that the best bull winning this competition will be given a tractor worth Rs 11 lakh as a reward. The best bull herder will be given a car worth Rs 8 and other prizes. Let us tell you that last year on 16 January 2024, Jallikattu was organized during Pongal in Palamedu, Tamil Nadu. During this period, about 42 people including 14 animal trainers and 16 spectators were injured.

During the programme, the best animal trainer who controlled 14 bulls and the owner of the best uncontrollable bull were given ‘Chief Minister’s Car’ as a prize. 12 bull owners were among the 42 people injured during the event organized in Palamedu. Jallikattu is organized every year during the Pongal (harvest) festival in Palamedu. Jallikattu was also organized at Avaniapuram in the district during this period and ‘Grand Finale’ was organized at Alanganallur. P Prabhakaran of Madurai tamed 14 bulls and was declared the best animal trainer and was given the ‘Chief Minister’s’ car as the first prize.
