ITR Filing 2025: Missamach problem in AIS? Income tax department told the way to improve – Income tax department guide to fix ais mismatch in itr filing 2025

ITR Filing 2025: Many taxpayers have complained of disturbances in the Annual Information Statement (AIS) while filing the Income Tax Return (ITR) for the financial year 2024-25. The Income Tax Department has given clarification on this. The department says that taxpayers should carefully examine AIS before filing returns.

You can give feedback on every wrong entry

According to the Income Tax Department, if any entry in AIS appears wrong or incomplete, then the taxpayer should submit feedback on that transaction. For this, the information related to ‘Optional’ or ‘Add Feedback’ option will have to be recorded.

If your objection is found to be correct after examining feedback, AIS will be changed. However, taxpayers have to ensure that they continuously track feedback status-accepted or rejected portal.

Information on social media

The Income Tax Department gave an explanation on 16 July 2025 about the trouble in AIS on X (East Twitter). During this time the department also shared some suggestions.

According to the Income Tax Department, this initiative has been taken with the aim of increasing tax compliance and providing better service to taxpayers.

Why is AIS necessary documents

AIS taxpayers contain information like bank interest, dividend, foreign income, stock-hauching funds and real estate related purchases. If there is any kind of lapse in it, the ITR may have wrong details. This increases the risk of tax notice.

Do this check before filing returns

Tax experts advise to match both AIS and Form 26AS before filing ITR. If any income or transaction is in AIS but does not appear in ITR, and feedback is not given, then there may be trouble in future. In such a situation, it is important to be already alert.
