Israel on Tuesday released 4 people, including Swedish environmental activist Gita Thangberg. All of them left for France from Ben Gurian Airport in Israel.
However, 8 people are still in the custody of Israel, including the first Palestinian French member Reema Hasan, the first Palestinian French member of the European Parliament. However, the names of these people have not been revealed yet.
On June 9, the Israeli army raided the Madeline ship carrying relief material for Gaza and took 12 activists from Spain, France, Sweden and Turkey into custody.
Israel had given the option to all of them that they can return home by sign of sub -departation paper (release document). Four activists, including Great, signed them, while 8, including Reema Hasan, refused. All of them were taken to the Givon Detention Center in Ramle, Israel.

After the release, Grata Thangberg goes from the plane to Paris.

7 October 2023 refused to watch videos
Israeli’s Foreign Ministry said that all these activists had illegally entered the Israeli water area. Defense Minister Israel Katj claimed that the workers were shown screening (video footage) of the October 7 attack, but they refused to see it.
At the same time, ‘Freedom Flotila’ (FFC), who started this journey, says that sea blockade on Israel’s Gaza is illegal. The seizure of the Madeline ship is a violation of the International Maritime Law and the International Court of Court (ICJ).

Workers were taken into custody on 9 June
According to BBC, after the arrest on June 9, all these activists were brought to Ashdod Port. It is an important port to the west of Israel. Its distance from Gaza is 27 km.
A video was released by Israeli’s Foreign Ministry, in which Gita was taking Thangberg and his associates to Israeli Navy Israel.
The Ministry of External Affairs lashed out at the social media platform x and wrote- All the passengers of ‘Selfie Yacht’ are fine and safe. They have been provided sandwiches and water. The show is now over.

Why Israel stopped the ship
Initially Israel was considering to allow the ship to do a dock in Gaza, provided that it does not pose a security threat to security. The Israeli government later changed its decision.
Israel argued that once a ship -like ship was approved, such efforts would be promoted later.
This may weaken the sea restrictions of Israel and also increase international pressure. Therefore, Israel had already said that this ship would be stopped before Gaza coast.
Earlier too, a ship named FCC made another attempt in May 2025. However, Israel did not give him permission.
According to a Times of Israel report, Israel appealed to Britain to stop the ship coming towards Gaza. However, Britain refused to do so. According to an official, Britain has asked Israel to ensure the safety of these passengers.

What was the Madeline Mission for Gaza?
Israel has completely banned the entry of relief material in Gaza since March 2, causing 93% of the 23 lakh people facing starvation. Dozens of children have died of hunger. The purpose of the Madeline ship was to provide help to these people.
The yatra was launched by an organization called ‘Freedom Flotila’ (FFC), which has already tried to help Gaza. Gita and his team are opposing the siege of Israel that has been going on for many years on Gaza.
FFC described it as a peaceful civil resistance. According to him, all the workers on the ship and members of the crew are trained in the principle of non -violence and this mission is completely peaceful.

This action of Israel has also reacted by countries around the world …
