Aadhar card has become an important document for us. It is used for every small and big task including opening a bank account and buying a SIM card. This 12 digit unique ID can cause huge harm due to your one mistake. If it falls into someone’s hands, it can be misused in your name. Many such incidents have come to light in which fraud has been committed by purchasing SIM through someone else’s Aadhar card. In such a situation, you will have to keep checking from time to time whether anyone else is misusing your Aadhar card.
Take help of myAadhaar app
You can check the history of your Aadhaar card by using myAadhaar app on your smartphone or by visiting the UIDAI website. The Aadhaar card issuing agency provides this facility to the card holders. For this you will have to follow some easy steps given below.
- First of all you have to download myAadhaar app in your phone.
- After this you will have to log in with your Aadhar card number and registered mobile number.
- After receiving the OTP, you will be able to log in to myAadhaar app.
- Here you will see the Aadhar Card History section, from where you will be able to find out where and where your Aadhar Card has been used.
Get help through portal
- To find out through laptop, you will first have to go to UIDAI website.
- Here you will find the myAadhaar section, from where you can log in to your Aadhaar card.
- Then enter the Aadhaar number and after entering the captcha code, click on the Login With OTP option.
- Then you will receive an OTP on your registered mobile number.
- After this the authentication history can be traced in the Aadhaar account.
- Select the number of days you want to view Aadhaar history and check your Aadhaar card usage.
If you feel that your Aadhaar card has been misused, you can lodge a complaint by visiting the UIDAI website or you can call the UIDAI toll-free helpline number 1947. Along with this, you can lodge a complaint by sending an e-mail to help@uidai.gov.in.
lock biometric
If you feel that your Aadhaar card has been misused, you can also secure your card. For this you will have to lock the biometric of your Aadhar card. UIDAI provides this facility through its online portal.
- For this you will have to go to UIDAI website.
- After this you go to Lock/Unlock Aadhaar section.
- Read the guidelines given there and create a virtual ID. After creating the virtual ID, captcha code will have to be entered along with name and pin code.
- Then you have to tap on Send OTP. After this, OTP i.e. One Time Password will be received on your registered mobile number.
- You can lock your Aadhaar biometrics after completing the log-in process.
- To unlock biometric, you have to follow the same steps.
