In the 70th League stage match of IPL 2025, Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 6 wickets at Ekana Stadium. Batting first, Lucknow Super Giants scored 227 runs by losing 3 wickets in 20 overs thanks to the bang -up of captain Rishabh Pant. Rishabh Pant scored an unbeaten 118 runs, with 11 fours and 8 sixes. However, on this stormy century of Pant, RCB acting captain Jitesh Sharma had a heavier of 85 runs. On the basis of Jitesh, RCB achieved the target of 228 runs in 18.4 overs. In this way, Lucknow’s dream of ending the season with victory also shattered.
Pant imposed heavy fines
Lucknow has suffered another major setback after this crushing defeat. LSG has suffered a big loss even on the go this season. Actually, Rishabh Pant, captain of Lucknow Super Giants, has been fined heavy. He has been fined for slow over-rate during the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore. This was the third offense of his team under the Code of Conduct of the IPL related to minimum over-rate offenses, so Rishabh Pant has been fined Rs 30 lakh. The rest of the members of the playing XI, including the impact player, have been fined personally either Rs 12 lakh or 50 percent of their respective match fees, whichever is lower. This season Pant has to pay a total of Rs 66 lakh as fine. Earlier, he had paid a fine of Rs 12 lakh and Rs 24 lakh.
Season is disappointing for LSG
Rishabh Pant’s team finished this season points table in 7th place. The team was able to get only 6 wins in 14 matches while lost in 8 matches. Lucknow Super Giants had made Rishabh Pant their captain in the mega auction for 27 crores, but he could not live up to expectations. His bat scored only 269 runs, including a century and a half -century. Many questions were also raised on his captaincy.
