Australia has more than one cricket stadium, but there is also a stadium that has been waiting for the host of the International Cricket match for many years. Not a single international match has been played in this stadium in the last 17 years. This stadium is Marrara Oval located in the city of Darwin, currently known as Tio Stadium. However, the fate of this stadium is going to open and with this, the 17 -year long wait is going to end. Yes, Australia’s Darwin is expected to return international cricket after 17 years in the city.

Cricket Australia plans to hold two T20I matches against South Africa in Darwin in August 2025. Cricket Australian officials are expected to announce the series dates later this month. Actually, South Africa will visit Australia for three T20i and equal ODI matches. Cricket Australia plans to hold the first two T20I matches of this series at Darwin. After that a T20I and a ODI match will be played in Cairns and the last two ODIs will be held in McKay. The city of Darwin is the capital of Northern Territory and is located in the north of Australia.

Will it end 17 years waiting?

The schedule of this series is not yet fully decided and the deal is yet to be finalized for the match to be held at Tio Stadium, but if it is confirmed, it will bring a huge chance for Darwin’s cricket stadium.
