Indian archers set up Gold, Silver and Bronze won in China, World Cup Stage-2

India performed brilliantly at the Archery World Cup Stage-2 in Shanghai and won three medals in the compound men’s team event on Saturday, silver in women’s team competition and three medals including Bronze in the mixed team event. The men’s team of Abhishek Verma, Ojas Devatale and Rishabh Yadav defeated Mexico 232-228 in the final.

The Indian trio achieved the top position by targeting infallible targets under pressure with patience. India gained a two -point lead in the first game with 59 points. Mexico, however, returned by making 58 points in the second game. In this game, Indian archers could score 56 points, which made the score equal to 115-115. The Indian trio once again took a lead of a point in the third game. All three archers of Mexico, who have been India’s 58 points, could score only 57 points. The Indian trio maintained his patience in the final game and scored 59 out of 60. Mexico could score only 56 points under pressure.

Indian team lost in compound final

The team of Jyoti Surekha Vannam, Madhura Dhamangaonkar and Chikitha Taniparthi failed to overcome the strong challenge of Mexico in the women’s compound final and lost the match 221-234. In the final match, the Indian archers failed to give a tough competition to Mexico but the trio impressed with its talent in the entire tournament and ensured a place on the podium. Verma and Madhura’s Indian mixed team strengthened India’s position in the medal table with defeating Malaysia in third place playoffs.

Return to World Cup team after 3 years

24 -year -old Madhura had never won the World Cup medal before. She is returning to the World Cup team after three years. She has previously represented India in 2022 archery World Cup Phase Four in Medeline. Compound Archery Competition Los Angeles is going to make her Olympic debut at 2028. It will have the only competition in the mixed team category. In such a situation, India will try to win its first Olympic medal in archery. Such a performance will greatly increase the encouragement of the team.
