
Archery Deepika Kumari
India’s star archer Deepika Kumari won the bronze medal in a strong performance in the archery World Cup Stage-2. In the match played on Sunday, Deepika lost to the world number one Korean archer Lim Sihyone in the semi -finals, but after that she made a strong comeback in the bronze medal match.
In the semi-finals of the Women’s Recurve Individual Competition, 30-year-old Deepika was defeated by Lim Sihyone by a huge margin of 7–1. Not only this, in the Yachione World Cup last year, Korean player defeated Deepika in the last four. However, overseeing the despair of the semi -finals, Deepika showed great patience and experience in the bronze medal match. He made a place at the podium, defeating another archer of Korea from Korea 7-3. With this victory, the total number of medals in India’s World Cup has reached 6. On Saturday, India’s Compound Class archers won five medals, in which Madhura Dhamangankar won three medals including personal gold and made a return to the national team after three years.
The thrill of bronze medal match
Deepika performed the best strategy and accurate shooting in the bronze medal match. The first set of the match ended at 27-27. After this, Deepika won the second set 28-26 and took a 3–1 lead. In the third set, Korean archer Kang scored a 30-point perfect to make Deepika 3-3 equal to 27 points. In the fourth set, Deepika gave a brilliant introduction to the experience and hit the three arrows continuously on 10 points and took a lead of 5-3. In the decisive set, he scored 29 points against the 28 points of Kang and won the bronze medal.
Partha Salunke is also in medal competition
In the men’s recurve category, India’s Partha Salunke lost 4-6 against Korea veteran Kim Wujin in the semi-finals. Now he will compete for the bronze medal. A total of 6 medals have come in this World Cup from India so far, including Deepika’s bronze medal and five medals in the compound class. The country is still expecting a medal from Parth Salunke.
