In its report released on Wednesday, Canada’s Secret Agency (CSIS) accused India of foreign intervention in Canada. The CSIS report stated that India plays the lead role in “Trans National Daman” (border across repression). In the report, China was described as the biggest intelligence threat to Canada. Apart from this, Russia, Iran and Pakistan were also named.

The report said that Indian officials and his proxy agents present in Canada have tried to influence Canadian leaders. These Indian officials tried to divert Canada’s policies according to India’s interests, especially in the case of Khalistan.

The report also said that Khalistani militants are using Canada for violence in India. CSIS said that some people are using Canada to promote violence in India, raise money and planning.

In 2024, there were no attacks associated with Khalistani extremists in Canada, but their activity remains a threat to Canada and its interests. India’s foreign intervention in Canada is increasing due to Khalistani extremism.

Why did India-Canada relations get soured In 2023, the then Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had raised a controversy by saying that the agents of the Government of India could play a role in the murder of Khalistan terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

India had dismissed these allegations as ridiculous and inspired by politics. After this, both countries downed their diplomatic relations.

Hardeep Nijjar was killed in 2023 On the evening of June 18, 2023, Nijjar was shot dead by 2 unidentified gunmen near Gurunanak Sikh Gurdwara in Canada in Canada. He was in his car in parking outside the gurudwara. Meanwhile, two youths came on a motorcycle and started firing. Nijjar did not get time to get out of the car and died there. Nijjar was also the head of this gurudwara.
