In June 2025, Team India has to visit England. Before this tour, India A team has to play two matches against England Lions. Apart from this, he also has to play a match against the senior team. The BCCI may soon announce the squad for these three matches. A day before Rohit Sharma’s announcement to retire from Test cricket, a meeting of selectors took place at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai on 6 May. In that meeting, selectors have selected most of the players for the India-A team. It is expected that the squad will be announced on 13 May. Abhimanyu Ishwaran can be made the captain of India A team.
BCCI has advised the selectors to choose players who are not playing IPL. He also told that selectors can also choose the players of those teams whose team will not reach the IPL playoffs. Along with this, more players may join England for the second and third matches.
These players including Karun Nair will get space
Players like Tanush Kotian, Baba Indrajit, Akash Deep, Karun Nair can be included for the match against England Lions. Dhruv Jurlel and Nitish Reddy will initially be part of the A team and will later be included in the senior team. Shardul Thakur is scheduled to join the senior team. No strong information has been received about Ishaan Kishan whether he will be part of this team or not. Being in the senior team of Dhruv Jurael and Rishabh Pant, they find it difficult to join the A team.
Shreyas Iyer’s selection is not fixed
Shreyas Iyer’s selection is also not sure. Selectors are not thinking about them right now. But it is likely that if Virat Kohli refuses to play on England tour or he retires, then Iyer may be included in the team. Iyer has played 14 Test matches for India so far. He played his last Test match against England in February 2024.
