In this match, the host Australian team had given a target of 340 runs to Team India on the 5th day of the game, but Team India managed to score only 155 runs. At one time, the Indian team had not lost a single wicket in the second session of the 5th day’s play, but with the beginning of the third session, such a bad shot was seen from the bat of Rishabh Pant which gave the Kangaroo team a chance to make a comeback in the match. And then after that Team India’s innings seemed to be falling apart like a pack of cards. Now the Australian team has taken a 2-1 lead in this series.
Pant lost his wicket while trying to hit a six in head bowling.
On the 5th day of the Boxing Day Test match, when the Indian team got the target of 340 runs, the pair of Rohit and Yashasvi batted very carefully but at the score of 25, Team India got the first blow in the form of Rohit Sharma, after which till lunch time. The Indian team had lost three wickets till the score of 33. When the play of the second session started, Rishabh Pant supported Yashasvi Jaiswal very well and did not give the Australian team a chance to take even a single wicket in the entire session. From here everyone expected that the Indian team would easily be able to draw the match by playing the last session but with the beginning of the third session, Rishabh Pant went on the back foot on the ball of Travis Head and played a shot in the air towards wide long on. Which went straight into the hands of Mitchell Marsh who was fielding there. The Indian team got its fourth blow at the score of 121 and from here Team India managed to add only 34 runs to its score and the entire innings ended.

Very poor record in this series till now
All the fans expected better performance with the bat on this tour of Australia from Rishabh Pant but till now he has managed to play the maximum innings of only 37 runs. In this series, Pant returned to the pavilion only on single digit scores twice out of 7 innings. Now Team India has only one chance to end this series on a draw, due to which they will definitely be successful in retaining the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
