ILT20 2025: With the new year, T20 leagues have started across the world. On one hand, SA20 league is in full swing in South Africa, while on the other hand, ILT20 started in UAE from 11th January. Tremendous excitement was seen in the very first match of ILT20 2025. In the opening match of the tournament, the match was played between Dubai Capitals and MI Emirates. This match was very close, in which Dubai Capitals started their campaign with a win in the tournament by defeating MI by just 1 run. At one time, MI Emirates seemed to have an easy victory in the match, but then in the last overs, the tight bowling of Dubai Capitals changed the course of the match.
Brandon McMullen scored a half century
After winning the toss, MI invited Dubai Capitals to bat first. The beginning of the innings of Dubai Capitals was nothing special. The team’s opening pair returned to the pavilion for 34 runs in 7 overs. After this, Brandon McMullen took charge at one end and gradually increased the score. However, at the other end, Brandon McMullen could not get that kind of support, due to which the team could score only 130 runs after losing 8 wickets in 20 overs. Brandon McMullen played an inning of 58 runs in 42 balls with the help of 4 fours and 3 sixes. For MI, Afghan bowler Fazalhaq Farooqui single-handedly dealt with half the team.
Gulbadin Naib did wonders with the ball
MI Emirates had a very poor start in reply to Dubai Capitals’ 130 runs. Four batsmen of the team returned to the pavilion within 34 runs in just 4.4 overs. After this, captain Nicholas Pooran took charge alone and along with Akeal Hosein made a brilliant partnership of 79 runs. Pooran soon completed his half-century and then it seemed as if MI Emirates would easily win the match but then Gulbadin Naib dismissed captain Nicholas Pooran and Alzarri Joseph in the same over. Due to this, MI team came under pressure and could score only 132 runs after losing 7 wickets in 20 overs. In this match, Gulbadin Naib bowled amazingly and took 3 wickets and won the Player of the Match award.
