The nature of cricket has changed a lot in the last 25 years. Earlier Test and ODI used to dominate cricket but then T20I cricket entered and within a few years it became the most favorite format of cricket. Seeing the success of 20 over format in international cricket, IPL started in India and in the next few years there was a flood of T20 leagues all over the world. This is the reason why now ODI matches have reduced considerably. While batsmen dominate in T20 cricket, bowlers are often seen getting beaten. This is the reason why now a change in a rule in cricket is being considered.
Good news may come for bowlers
It has been reported that the ICC Cricket Committee is working towards giving bowlers a little more leeway on wides as the current rules are very strict on them, especially when the batsmen make last-minute movements. Veteran South African cricketer and former captain Shaun Pollock has given this information. Pollock told PTI that he is part of the ICC Cricket Committee and we are considering bringing some more relaxations for bowlers on the wide ball. He feels that the rules regarding this are very strict towards the bowlers. He said that if a batsman bounces in the last minute, it is really not an ideal situation for the bowlers. He feels that it is important for a bowler to know where he can bowl at the beginning of his run up.
There may be changes in the rules
Shaun Pollock said that according to the current rules, if the batsman changes his position immediately before the bowler leaves the ball, then the ball is given wide. He wants a slight change in this rule. He said that he wants a bowler to know during the run-up when, why or what kind of ball he has to bowl. How can a bowler be expected to change his strategy at the last second while bowling? He should already know clearly where he has to bowl. This is the main aspect we are discussing.
