
Sourav Ganguly
Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has once again been appointed as the chairman of the Men’s Cricket Committee of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Along with him, his former partner and veteran batsman VVS Laxman has also been re -elected as a member of the committee. The ICC gave information about this regeneration on Sunday (13 April). Ganguly, who captained the Indian cricket team from 2000 to 2005, was first given the command of this committee in 2021. He then replaced Anil Kumble, who left the post after three term.
Many giants get space in the committee
Apart from Ganguly and Laxman, this time many other former veteran players have also been included in the committee. These include former Afghanistan bowler Hamid Hasan, West Indies great batsman Desmond Hens, South African captain Temba Bavuma, and former England batsman Jonathan Trot.
New appointments in women’s cricket committee also
The ICC of women’s cricket has also constituted a new committee. Former New Zealand’s former off -spinner Catherine Campbell has been appointed as the chairman of this committee. Along with him, former Australian player Evril Fahe and Cricket South Africa’s representative Foletesi Moseki have also been made members.
Ganguly’s career has been excellent
Significantly, Sourav Ganguly is one of the selected cricketers who scored more than 10,000 runs in ODI cricket. Ganguly is known for his significant contribution in Indian cricket. In 2000, when the Indian cricket match was struggling with the crisis of fixing, Ganguly was appointed as the captain of Team India. He gave a chance to new players like Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh and Zaheer Khan in the team and after that their aggressive captaincy style filled the Indian team with confidence.
Under the captaincy of Sourav Ganguly, Team India registered many important victories on foreign soil. After his retirement from cricket, Ganguly stepped into cricket administration and also became the President of BCCI in 2019. Ganguly is currently holding the responsibility of Delhi Capitals Director of Cricket in IPL.
