Indian Premier League
The 58th match of the Indian Premier League 2025 began in Dharamshala with 1 hour late May 8. The Punjab Kings team had just played only 10 overs to bat to bat, that the light of ‘Fladlights’ suddenly decreased and the match had to be stopped immediately. By the time the audience came to know the reason behind this, they were asked to go out of the stadium and then it was clear shortly why Punjab vs Delhi had to be stopped in the middle.
Indian Premier League chairman Arun Dhumal has now made a big disclosure about this match. Arun Dhumal said that for the first time during the strategic timeout, it was realized that the IPL match in Dharamshala would have to be stopped immediately. At the time when this match was being played, the sirens of air strikes were ranging in 2 cities located less than 100 km from the stadium. This was the reason that in view of security, Fludlights in Dharamshala were slowed down. However, the audience was not given the real reason for stopping the match. There was no stampede in the stadium, for so it was announced that the floodlight has been closed due to technical reasons.
IPL chairman expressed gratitude to police
Dhumal told PTI that when information was given about the closure of the floodlight in the stadium, people did not want to leave from there. He said he had to make sure that the audience should be taken out without any panic. He could not allow a stampede situation.
League postponed for a week
Dhumal said that the entire work to get the audience out of the stadium was not possible without the help of the local police and the district administration. He did a great job. Let me tell you, IPL has been postponed for a week on 9 May amid the increasing struggle between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack. Now a week later, in the review meeting, a decision will be taken on the date of the remaining matches of the IPL.
