Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has made major announcements regarding road safety on Tuesday. Gadkari has announced a new scheme for cashless treatment. According to this, immediately after the accident, within 24 hours, when the information is received by the police, the government will bear the expenses of the patient’s treatment for 7 days or up to a maximum of Rs 1.5 lakh. At the same time, in hit-and-run cases, the deceased will be given Rs 2 lakh for treatment. During this, Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has also shared the data of people who lost their lives in road accidents in India in the year 2024. Nitin Gadkari has said that in the last year 2024, 1.80 lakh people have died in road accidents in India.
How many deaths due to not wearing helmet?
Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said that the first priority in the meeting was regarding road safety. It has been informed that out of the deaths in road accidents in the year 2024, 30,000 people will die due to not wearing helmets. The Union Minister said that the serious thing is that 66 percent of the deaths have occurred in the age group of 18 to 34 years.
How many children were killed?
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has also shared the data of deaths of school children in accidents. Nitin Gadkari has said that 10,000 children have died last year due to lack of proper arrangements at the entry-exit points in front of schools. Nitin Gadkari has further said that rules have also been made for autorickshaws and minibuses for colleges and schools because they cause a large number of deaths.
