India has reacted sharply to the kidnapping and brutal murder of Hindu minority leader Bhabesh Chandra Roy in Bangladesh. In its response, the Ministry of External Affairs stated that the latest incident “follows the pattern of systematic harassment of Hindu minorities under the current Bangladesh government led by Muhammad Yunus. Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal insisted that “the criminals of such previous incidents are roaming around.” The Ministry of External Affairs condemned the incident. In his post on X, Jaiswal said, ‘We saw the kidnapping and brutal murder of Hindu minority leader Shri Bhabesh Chandra Roy in Bangladesh, which is tragic. The murder is part of systematic harassment against Hindu minorities under the interim government, while such incidents are roaming without punishment.

Ministry of External Affairs criticized

In his post, Randhir Jaiswal further wrote, “We condemn the incident and once again remind the interim government that he should fulfill his responsibility to protect all minorities including Hindus without making any excuse or discriminating.” Let me tell you that Bhabesh Chandra Roy was known as the vice president of the Birral unit of Bangladesh Pooja Udjapan Parishad and a prominent leader of the Hindu community in the area. But he was first abducted and then beaten to death. Quoting police and family members, The Daily Star said that his body was recovered on Thursday night. Roy’s wife Shantana told The Daily Star that Roy received a phone call at around 4:30 pm, about which he said that the criminals had done this to confirm their house.

India-Bangladesh relationship

Let me tell you that in August last year, he had to leave Dhaka and flee due to large -scale anti -government protests against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. After this, there has been a rapid decline in Indo-Bangladesh relations. The interim government led by Muhammad Yunus has failed to prevent attacks on minorities, especially Hindus in Bangladesh, which has worsened the relationship between the two countries. Meanwhile, India on Friday dismissed the comments made by Bangladeshi officials on violence in West Bengal and asked Dhaka to focus on protecting the rights of their minorities, not to show “showy morality”.

Who was Bhabesh Chandra Roy? How did the murder happen

58 -year -old Roy Bangladesh Pooja was the vice -president of the Udjapan Parishad Vice President and a prominent leader of the Hindu community in the region. Bhabesh Roy received a call at around 4:30 pm on Friday evening, which he claimed that the criminals had done so to confirm his house. Roy’s wife Shantana told The Daily Star. The report further stated, “About 30 minutes later, four people came to his house riding on two motorcycles and allegedly abducted Bhabesh from the premises.
