Former Mumbai cricket team captain and selector Milind Rege died of a heart attack on Wednesday. He was 76 years old last Sunday. He was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital after health problems. Where he died on Wednesday morning. After this there has been a wave of mourning in the cricket world. Reege had a heart attack at the age of 26, but after that he returned to the cricket field with courage and passion. Then he became the captain of Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy.
Sachin Tendulkar remembers Milind Rege’s contribution
The great batsman Sachin Tendulkar, while paying tribute to the social media platform X, wrote that he was sad to hear about the death of Milind Rege Sir. He was a true Mumbai cricketer who contributed a lot to the city’s cricket. He and other members of the CCI saw the ability inside me and asked me to play for CCI, which I now look back, then it was an important moment of my career. Thanks for everything, sir. Hearty condolences to his friends and family.

School and college studies with Gavaskar
Milind Rege, a childhood friend of former India captain Sunil Gavaskar, studied with him at school and college and played with him at Dadar Union Sporting Club. As one of the most respected persons in Mumbai and domestic cricket, Rege played several roles during his career and also joined the Mumbai Cricket Association as a cricket advisor.
52 matches played in first class cricket
Milind Rege may not get a chance to play for the Indian team, but in domestic cricket he presented a sample of his strong batting. He played 52 first class matches between 1966–67 and 1977-78 and took 126 wickets from his off-spin bowling bowling. He also contributed to the bat and scored 1,532 runs at an average of 23.56.
