Under the ceasefire agreement, Hamas will release 6 Israeli citizens this week. They will be released in two batches of 3 each on Thursday and Saturday. In return, Israel will allow Palestinian citizens in North Gaza to return from today i.e. Monday, January 27.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gave this information. The hostages who were released included two women, Arbel Yehud and Agar Berger. He was taken hostage by Hamas on 7 October 2023.

Israel had demanded the release of Arbel Yehud along with four female hostages who were released on Saturday last week. However, Hamas did not release Arbel on Saturday. Israel had called this a violation of ceasefire.
