World Champion D Gukesh took a joint lead by defeating P Harikrishna, who was his associate P Harikrishna, who was associated in the World Championship in the seventh round of the Tata Steel Masters Chess tournament being played in the Netherlands. This was Gukesh’s third win in this competition, with which he has become a strong contender to win his first title here. Pragyannanda played with Jordan Van Forest, while Abdusattorov played a draw with Aneesh Giri of Netherlands. Another Indian player Arjun Arigasi’s disappointing performance continued. He suffered a defeat to local player Max Warmardam. This is his fourth necklace. Arigasi started in this competition as a second seed player after Fabiano Karuana of the US, but has lost about 28 rating points with a constant disappointing performance and slipped to sixth position in the live rating. Another Indian player participating in the Tata Steel Masters Chess tournament was stopped by Leon Luke Mendonka, the defending champion of China, Vai Yi. In the Challengers category, R Vaishali played a draw with Benjamin Bok of Netherlands but Divya Deshmukh lost to Miaoi Lu of China.

Gukesh reached fourth place

Recently, Arjun became the highest ranked player in place of Arigasi by reaching fourth in the latest rankings of D Gukesh FIDE (World Chase’s highest institution). The 18 -year -old Indian player achieved this feat by defeating Vincent Kimer of Germany in the ongoing Tata Steel tournament in Vijk Aun Zee, Netherlands. This was his second win in the tournament. Gukesh, who has recently received India’s highest sports award Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna, has now got 2784 rating points, while India’s number one player has slipped to fifth position with 2779.5 rating points for some time. Norway’s Magnus Carlson remains the world’s number one player with 2832.5 points.
