This rule will come into force from the end of August. Apart from this, service providers will have the freedom to import only certified equipment in India.
On 25 February last month, DOT has issued standard and measures for assumed assessment related to 14 types of telecom equipment, including non-jestationary class (NGSO) satellite equipment including integrated gateways and users terminals. These orders will be effective 180 days after the notification date.
Scheme started in 2019

The certificate and testing scheme for telecom equipment in India was launched in 2019 so that telecom companies do not face any problem in operating network expansion and existing networks. Also, these Equipments could stand on international and national standards. This scheme is being rolled out. The existing announcement has been taken under the certification of Telecom Equipments and Phase 5 of the standard of the test.
