The government has prepared to bring a new telecom policy to improve digital connectivity in the country. Soon a notification can be issued by the Ministry of Telecommunications for this. Under the new telecom policy, the target is to create new opportunities for 10 lakh jobs in the next 5 years. The new policy targets information and communication technology (ICT) to increase the contribution of the country to GDP, which can increase from the current 7.8% to 11%.

According to the ET report, the new telecom policy (NTP) 2025 will be notified soon and its target will be met by 2030. In this telecom policy, along with mobile connectivity, broadband and satellite communication will also be placed. Not only this, focus will be done on 6G as well as artificial intelligence and cyber security to quantum computing sector. The government aims to create maximum employment opportunities in these sectors.

The initial goal of the new telecom policy (NTP) is to deliver 4G networks to all regions of the country. At the same time, 5G connectivity is to reach 90% of the people. Currently, 93% of the districts of the country have 5G access and telecom companies are upgrading their network.

A target has been set to transport fiber internet to all villages and government offices. Not only this, there is also a preparation to apply Wi-Fi hot all over the country. According to the Department of Telecommunications, every village in India will be connected to BSNL’s Bharatnet Optical Fiber by 2030.

Jio and Airtel as well as Starlink and Amazon Kuipar have prepared to connect every village in India to satellite connectivity. Soon, spectrum will be allotted for satellite connectivity. Currently, preparations are being made to give them airways for testing.

The new telecom policy is expected to invest 1.5 lakh crores every year. Large investment will create large -scale employment opportunities in the telecom and IT sector.
