The Army and Rebel Group M23 have been in conflict in the Eastern city of Congo of the African country of Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo) for the past several days. According to the news agency AP, the rebels have captured Goma on Tuesday i.e. on Tuesday. He then announced one -sided ceasefire.

Around 900 people have been killed in the fight between the rebels and the Army of the Congo in Goma last week. About 1000 Indian citizens live in Goma. However, after the struggle started, most of them moved to safe places. There are many natural minerals in Goma city with a population of about 20 lakhs. The fighters of the rebel organization M23, who attacked it, have the support of neighboring country Rwanda. After Goma, they are moving towards the rebel city of Bukavu.

More than 100 rebel organizations in the eastern region of Congo

On Monday, spokesman of the rebel organization Lawrence Kanuka said- ‘We will stop the fight to provide humanitarian aid. We also have no intention of capturing Buchvu. So far, the Congo government has not issued any statement on this.

According to UN experts, the M23 rebels have the support of about 4000 soldiers of neighboring Rwanda. More than 100 rebel organizations are active in the eastern region of Congo. Among them, M23 is the largest organization.

Conflict between Tutsi and Hutu tribes has been going on in the Congo for several decades. M23 says that he is protecting the caste. According to media reports, in 1994, Hutu and some violent organizations attacked 8 lakh tuts in Rwanda and killed many people. After this, many Tutsi fled to Congo.

Also captured in 2012

The rebellious faction M23 also temporarily captured Goma in 2012. Later, due to international pressure, later retreated. However, from the end of 2021, this faction started spreading his feet here once again.

The Congo government and the UN have accused Rwanda of supporting the rebels. However, Rwanda has dismissed these allegations.
