After Donald Trump’s threats to occupy Greenland, France and Germany have warned him not to do so. French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot said on Wednesday that no matter which country it is, it will not be allowed to attack any European Union country and its borders.
Barrot called Greenland a territory of the European Union and said that the island is connected to the European Union through Denmark. Barot said-
The European Union will not allow any country in the world to attack its borders, no matter who they are. We are a strong continent.
Barrot also said he was not sure Trump would attack Greenland to annex it. But it is also true that we are now reaching that era where only the powerful will act as they wish.
Denmark’s Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen said on Wednesday regarding Trump’s statement that if the people of Greenland want, it can become independent, but under no circumstances will it become a state of America. Rasmussen also discussed this issue with King in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark.
Greenland’s Foreign Minister said – America’s security concerns are justified Lars Loke Rasmussen said-
We fully recognize that Greenland has its own ambitions. If they come true, Greenland will be independent, but America’s desire to make Greenland its own will hardly be fulfilled.
However, Rasmussen said that the activities of Russia and China are increasing in the Arctic region. In such a situation, America’s security concern is justified.
Trump wants control over Greenland In fact, America’s newly elected President Donald Trump is continuously making statements that trouble his allies and neighboring countries before taking oath. Trump had talked about taking Greenland under American control in December.
Since then, Trump has made such statements many times. Trump says that America’s control over Greenland is very important for national security and freedom in the whole world.
Greenland is an island located in the North Atlantic Ocean. It is an autonomous region under the control of Denmark. Which has its own Prime Minister.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said regarding this matter that the principle of integrity of borders applies to every country. Be it East or West. Scholz also acknowledged that he has discussed the issue with several European Union leaders.
Trump’s son Junior Trump reached Greenland Trump’s son Donald Trump Jr. arrived in Greenland on January 7. This tour is being linked to Trump’s desire to buy Greenland. However, Trump Jr. had made it clear that he was going to Greenland on a personal visit and had no plans to meet any government official.
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen’s statement has also come after Trump Jr.’s visit to Greenland. Frederiksen said that America is a close ally of Denmark. It is great that America is interested in Greenland, but Greenland is not for sale.
America had earlier also expressed its desire to buy Greenland This is not the first time that an American President has expressed his desire to buy Greenland. Earlier in 1946, the then US President Harry Truman had offered to buy this icy island from Denmark for 100 million dollars. There is a US Air Force base in the north-western region of Greenland, where about 600 soldiers are deployed.
Trump has threatened to snatch the Panama Canal. Trump has earlier offered Canada and Mexico to meet in America. Apart from this, two days ago he had also threatened to take the Panama Canal back under American control. This canal is part of the Caribbean country Panama. America had control over this canal till 1999.
After this threat by Trump, Panamanian President Jose Raul Mulino strongly reprimanded him. Mulino had said that Panama’s independence would not be compromised.
