Gainers & Losers: After three consecutive trading days of growth, today the bears once again took charge of the market. FMCG, Metal, Realty and Oil & Gas sectors tried to take the market higher. Their Nifty index has also strengthened by more than 1% each. However, Nifty of IT shares fell by more than 2 percent and Nifty of Bank also fell by more than 1 percent i.e. IT and banking stocks pulled the market down. Talking about domestic equity benchmark index, today BSE Sensex closed at 76,619.33 with a decline of 423.49 points or 0.55% and Nifty 50 also closed at 23,203.20 with a slip of 0.47% or 98.60 points.

There were some shares whose profits had increased in the December quarter but still the shares fell to their lowest level in a year. These shares rose with rocket speed

Havells. Current Price: ₹1578.00 (+1.33%)

Despite falling profit in the December quarter, Havells shares jumped 1.18 per cent intra-day to Rs 1538.95. Its profit fell by 3 per cent in the December quarter and margin also declined by 1 per cent but revenue grew by 11 per cent. The rise in shares came because the company’s Chairman and MD Anil Rai Gupta said that except wire, there was a growth of 14-15 percent in the rest of the business and consumer sentiment is also improving. The company said there is no concern about margins.

United Spirits. Current Price: ₹₹1424.75 (+0.72%)

When United Breweries launched two new flavored beers, its shares jumped 1.66 percent to Rs 1438.05 intra-day. The company has launched both the flavored beers – Kingfisher Mango Berry Twist and Kingfisher Lemon Masala in Daman and Goa.

SBI Life Insurance. Current Price: ₹1540.50 (+1.76%)

SBI Life Insurance shares jumped further after the December quarter results were announced. In intra-day it reached a price of Rs 1555.55 with a gain of 2.75 percent. Its net profit in the December quarter jumped 71 percent year-on-year to Rs 551 crore. During this period, net income from premium also increased by 11 percent to Rs 24827.54 crore.

TVS Motor Company. Current Price: ₹2290.65 (+0.52%)

Shares jumped 1.27 per cent to Rs 2307.75 intra-day after TVS Motor Company announced its entry into Morocco in collaboration with its distribution partner Hindi Motors. The company is launching two-wheelers – TVS Ntorq 125, TVS Raider 125, and TVS Apache 160 and 200 in Morocco.

Zomato. Current Price: ₹248.75 (+2.79%)

When Zomato announced to invest Rs 500 crore in quick commerce unit Blinkit, its shares soared at the speed of rocket and it remained the top gainer of Sensex even at the end of the day. In intra-day it jumped 3.62 percent to Rs 250.75.

Infosys. Current Price: ₹1815.10 (-5.77%)

Despite better than expected December quarter results, Infosys shares fell 5.89 per cent intra-day to Rs 1812.70. The company has raised FY2025 revenue growth guidance, yet shares remain under pressure as weak growth is expected in the March 2025 quarter.

Aditya Birla Fashion. Current Price: ₹275.60 (-0.33%)

Shares of Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail fell 1.65 per cent intra-day to Rs 271.95 on QIP issue. The floor price of its QIP issue is Rs 271.28, which is 1.89 per cent downside from Thursday’s closing price (Rs 276.50). The company plans to raise Rs 5 thousand crore through QIP and preferential issue. The board has approved it to raise Rs 2500 crore through QIP. Apart from this, on preferential basis the company will issue shares worth Rs 1298 crore to promoter Pilani Investment and Rs 1081 crore to Fidelity Group in non-promoter category.

Axis Bank. Current Price: ₹991.25 (-4.71%)

The next trading day after December quarter results were announced, Axis Bank shares took a hit and fell 6.32 per cent intra-day to a one-year low of Rs 974.45. Investors were shocked by the result that NPA has increased. Axis Bank’s standalone profit rose 4% year-on-year to ₹6,304 crore and net interest income rose 9% to ₹13,606 crore in the December quarter. However, on the other hand, on quarterly basis, gross NPA increased from 1.44% to 1.46% and net NPA increased from 0.34% to 0.35%.

LTIMindtree. Current Price: ₹5887.95 (-1.52%)

Shares of LTIMindtree fell 3.47 per cent intra-day to Rs 5771.10 on weak December quarter results. Its consolidated profit fell 13.2% quarter-on-quarter to ₹1,086.7 crore in the December quarter, EBITDA also fell 8.9% to ₹1,328.99 crore and margin slipped to 13.8% from 15.5%. During this period, revenue increased by 2.4% to ₹9,660.9 crore and dollar revenue increased by 1.1% to $113.87 crore.

TCS. Current Price: ₹4125.70 (-1.96%)

Shares of Tata Consultancy Services, the country’s largest IT company, fell 2.56 percent intra-day today to Rs 4100.50 on ex-dividend day. The company had announced an interim dividend of Rs 10 and a special dividend of Rs 66 along with the December quarter results, the record date of which was fixed on January 17.
