Claim of role of intelligence agency RAW

The Washington Post claimed in its report that a senior officer of India’s intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) had talked about the plan to remove Muizzu from the post of President.

The Washington Post claimed to have been given some of the recordings by a member of Muizzu’s family. In these, there is a record of a conversation between a senior intelligence officer of RAW and other Indian mediators regarding the removal of Muizzu from the post.

According to the report, these mediators included a former Indian police officer Shirish Thorat and Savio Rodrigues, a Goa-based publisher and former BJP spokesperson. There were talks between all of them in Washington on this issue in January.

However, the Washington Post also made it clear that even after months of secret negotiations, there was no success in gathering enough MPs to impeach Muizzu. India also did not advance the effort to remove Muizzu from office nor did it provide funds.
