BJP MP Nishikant Dubey is not only facing opposition criticism after making a statement on the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court (CJI) Sanjeev Khanna, a letter petition has also been filed against him in the Supreme Court. At the same time, on contempt proceedings against BJP MP, the Supreme Court has now said in two blits that permission is not required for this.
What did the apex court say?
The apex court on Monday told a petitioner that it did not require a bench permission to file a contempt petition against BJP MP Nishikant Dubey for criticizing the Supreme Court and CJI Sanjeev Khanna. The case was mentioned by Justice B.K. R. Gawai and Justice Augustine George Christ were in front of the bench. The petitioner’s counsel cited a recent news about Dubey’s comments and said he wanted to file a contempt petition with the permission of the court. Justice Gawai said, “You file it. You do not need our permission to file. ”
What is the whole matter?
Please tell that Nishikant Dubey had targeted the apex court and said that if the Supreme Court is to enact a law, then Parliament and the Legislative Assembly should be closed. He targeted CJI Sanjeev Khanna and blamed him for ‘Civil War’ in the country. However, the BJP separated itself from Dubey’s statement. But the law experts are looking at it as a contempt of the Supreme Court.
BJP’s exercise ‘Damage Control’- Congress
The Congress also described the exercise of the party’s edge from their statements after BJP MPs Nishikant Dubey and Dinesh Sharma criticized the Supreme Court as “damage control” and said that MPs should be expelled from the party. Congress MP and senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi, demanding a contempt proceedings of the court against Dubey, said that it is expected that the Attorney General would consent for criminal contempt without delay.
