Fast track immigration facility started at 7 more airports in the country, passengers of these two categories will get free

After Delhi Airport, now fast immigration service has also started at 7 new airports in India. These airports are- Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Cochin and Ahmedabad airports. With this service, world class immigration facilities will be provided to the passengers. This is an important step, which will make international travel smoother and safer. According to PTI news, Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the ‘Fast Track Immigration-Trusted Traveler Programme’ (FTI-TTP). Shah launched the program at an event held at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad.

The first phase will start at 21 major airports

According to the news, initially this facility has been started free of cost for Indian citizens and OCI cardholders. The initiative is currently running at Indira Gandhi International Airport after launching the service in June last year. Now it is being started at seven other airports including Ahmedabad. Overall, the government plans to launch this program at 21 major airports in the first phase.

What will the passengers have to do?

FTI-TTP has been launched through an online portal (click here) has been implemented through. To enroll in this program, applicants will have to complete online registration by filling their details and uploading the required documents on the portal. Biometric data of registered applicants will be captured either at the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) or while passing through the airport.

Registered passengers will need to scan their airline-issued boarding pass at the e-gate, followed by scanning their passport. At both the arrival and departure points, the biometrics of the passenger will be certified at the e-gate. Once this certification is successful, the e-gate will open automatically and immigration clearance will be considered granted.
