EPFO i.e. Employees Provident Fund Organization has given an important information about PF transfer claims. Now if the service period between two jobs is seen in the service period, then the PF transfer claim will not be rejected only for this reason. EPFO has issued this information on 20 May 2025 by issuing a circular.

EPFO noticed that many regional offices were rejecting PF transfer claims just because the service dates were overlapping in the records of the old and new employers. But this often happens due to some common and exact reasons.

Due to these small reasons, PF transfer of employees was delayed. Now the EPFO has clearly stated that if there is any reason behind overlapping, the claim should not be rejected.
What is overlapping service period?
When an employee’s date of free (relieving) from the job in the previous institute and the date of joining the new institute is seen or cutting each other, it is called overlapping service period. Often it is caused by technical mistake or wrong entry of dates. It does not make the fault of the employee.
What does EPFO’s new rule say?
According to the EPFO, if there is overlapping in a transfer claim and feeling the need, the concerned officers can seek cleanliness from the employee, but only overlapping will not be rejected by overlapping. This step is taken to make PF claim process easier and faster.
What should the employee do?
Keep your joining and relieving letter while changing the job.
Keep information linked to Aadhaar in PF account updated.
If any clarification is sought from the EPFO, submit the document immediately.
