EPFO: The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has recently made a major change in the rules of provident fund transfer. According to the instructions dated January 15, 2025, members can now transfer their PF account online in certain special cases, that too without the approval of their old or new employer. These improvements will make online transfer claims simpler than ever before, reducing delays and making the process more efficient. This initiative has been taken especially to provide relief to employees changing jobs. Now this process can be completed with the help of Aadhaar and other necessary documents.
Employees can now correct mistakes in their personal information like name, date of birth, spouse’s name, marital status, nationality, gender and date of employment through the EPFO portal.
What is the eligibility for PF transfer?
To avail this new feature you must fulfill these conditions
1. Link UAN to Aadhaar: Your Universal Account Number (UAN) must be linked and verified with Aadhaar.
2. KYC: Your account information, such as Aadhaar, PAN and bank account, must be verified in the EPFO system.
3. EPFO Account: Both your old and new PF accounts should be managed by EPFO.
4. Verified Date of Exit: The date of last employment with your old company in your previous employer record should be updated on the EPFO portal.
Transfer online like this
step 1: First of all go to EPFO member portal.
Step 2: Login to your account by entering your UAN and password.
Step 3: After this, go to ‘Online Services’ tab and click on ‘One Member – One EPF Account (Transfer Request)’ option.
Step 4: After this, verify the details related to the existing PF account along with personal details.
Step 5: After verifying the PF account details, click on the Last PF Account Details option.
Step 6: Get your previous employer or current employer to verify the form.
Step 7: After this, click on the option of Get OTP for OTP on the mobile number registered with UAN.
Step 8: After entering the OTP, click on submit transfer request.
Step 9: After submitting the application, you will be able to monitor the status of your transfer request by going to ‘Track Claim Status’.
Step 10: Your company will approve your EPF transfer request through the employer interface of the unified portal.
