EPFO: There is good news for employees. The Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has made the process easy to link and update Aadhaar to the Universal Account Number (UAN). How will the benefit be?
If the names, gender and date of birth recorded in your UAN are absolutely Aadhaar, then you will only have to contact your employer. The employer will seed your Aadhaar through the KYC portal and there will be no need to take separate approval of the EPFO for this. That is, this process will become faster and easy.
In case of disturbances in details
If there is a difference in name, gender or date of birth between your UAN and Aadhaar. So now the employer can send an update request from the online joint declaration (JD) portal. Earlier, manual process had to be adopted for such updates, which wasted a lot of time.
If the wrong base is linked?
Sometimes the wrong Aadhaar number is accidentally linked to the UAN. Now in this situation employers can update the correct Aadhaar number on the JD portal and send it directly to the local office of EPFO. On getting approval from there, the correct Aadhaar will be linked.
Why is this change important?
EPFO first launched the Aadhaar Seeding Service in 2014. So that, members can get direct benefit and reduce dependence on employers. Now this process has become easier than before with new changes. This step will provide relief to millions of employees, as they will be able to update their information easily and get benefits related to EPF.
