EPFO: Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has made the process easy to update personal information for its members. Now the members who have a universal account number (UAN) Aadhaar, can update their EPF profile without uploading any document.
Now easy profile update is easy
Earlier, the approval of the employer was necessary to update the information in the EPF account, which could take the process up to 28 days. But now if your UAN is verified by Aadhaar, then you can update information like your name, date of birth, gender, nationality, parents’ status, spouse’s name, joining and leaving date.
However, if your UAN was released before 1 October 2017, the approval of the employer will still be required for the profile update. Apart from this, it is necessary to link Aadhaar and PAN with EPF account so that there is no delay in withdrawing money and updating profiles.
Benefits and impact
According to EPFO, about 45% profile update requests can be done by this new system. This will improve the verification of data. The fellow will reduce mistakes and EPF members will get easy and better experience.
How to update EPF profiles?
You can update the EPF profile online by following the easy steps given below.
Go to EPFO’s official website www.epfindia.gov.in and open the Unified Member Portal.
Login by entering UAN, password and captcha.
Click on the Manage Option given above.
Choose option modify basic details.
Fill the correct information according to your Aadhaar card and submit it.
Check the status of your update request using a track request option.
This new initiative of EPFO will prove to be timely saving and easy for EPF members. This will make the process of updating the account information more transparent and intensified.
