The Indian team will go on a tour of England after the IPL is over. The five Test matches between the two teams will start from June 20. Before this series, England have to face the West Indies in the White Ball Series at their home. The first three-match ODI series will be played between England and West Indies, followed by a T20 series of the same match. The English team has suffered a major setback before this series. Fast bowler Gas Atkinson is out of the upcoming ODI series.
Gus Atkinson was out due to hamstring injury
Gas Atkinson is out of this series due to Hamstring injury. Nothing has been clearly said about whether he will be able to play in the upcoming Test series against India. The English bowler suffered this injury during the only Test match played against Zimbabwe at Trent Bridge. He threw a three -over spell on the third day of the Test match. He then went out of the field due to injury. Regarding Atkinson’s injury, the ECB official said that he would now rehab under the supervision of the England medical team and after that a decision will be taken for his return.
Jofra Archer has also been injured
Before Atkinson, Jofra Archer has also been out of the upcoming ODI series against the West Indies. Luke Wood was replaced in the team. But Atkinson’s replacement for the ODI series has not been announced yet. It has also been said that no player will be replaced. England will probably not feel that much in this ODI series. The team has bowlers like Saqib Mahmood, Jamie Overton and Matthew Pots as fast bowlers.
Test series against India can also be out!
Gus Atkinson made his Test debut for England in 2024. He has then become an important part of the English team in the Test. The fast bowler has played a total of 12 matches in Tests so far, where he has taken 55 wickets at an average of 22.30. If he is not able to fit for the upcoming Test series against India, then it can prove to be a major setback for England.
