Airtel Satellite Broadband Service
Indian users are expected to start satellite broadband service soon. Last year, the government had announced to start satellite broadband service in India soon. Apart from Jio and Airtel, Elon Musk’s company Starlink and Amazon WebServices are also in the race to launch satellite broadband service here. Recently, Bharti Enterprise Vice Chairman Rajan Bharti Mittal has confirmed that his satellite telecom service is ready to be launched. They are just waiting for approval from the government.
Base station work completed
Let us tell you that Airtel and Jio have completed the compliance for satellite service. At the same time, Starlink and Amazon Web Services have not yet completed the compliance. The regulator has asked both these companies to complete compliance. Bharti Airtel has completed base station work in Gujarat and Tamil Nadu. The telecom operator is just waiting for spectrum allocation. Airtel has launched 635 satellites to start satellite telecom service in the country.
Satellite broadband service will start soon
Apart from India, Airtel is also preparing to launch satellite broadband service in other countries. In such a situation, Elon Musk’s company Starlink is going to get an open challenge not only in India but also in the international market. The Department of Telecommunications and regulators may soon announce spectrum allocation for satellite broadband service in India. Last month, the deadline to complete the guidelines related to spectrum allocation was 15 December 2024. However, after this no new news has come to light regarding this.
The government wants to allocate spectrum for satellite internet like 2G. However, telecom operators Airtel and Jio have expressed their anger regarding this. Companies want that spectrum allocation should be done through auction like 4G and 5G. Now the ball is in the government’s court and the government is also taking feedback from the telecom industry regarding this.
