Former Chief Election Commissioner of India SY Qureshi has denied the report in 2012 to increase the voting percentage in the election as his Chief Election Commissioner (CEC).
Qureshi has made this statement on the charge of BJP spokesperson Amit Malviya. Malaviya said that in 2012, the Election Commission led by SY Qureshi signed a mou with the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES). This institution is associated with the Open Society Foundation of George Soros. This mainly provides financial help from USAID.
Amit Malviya has accused the Congress party and George Soros of intervention in the Indian election.

Qureshi said- there is no truth in the report
Qureshi said- “In 2012, there is no truth in the media report with millions of dollars funding to increase voter participation in India by the US agency as a commissioner in 2012.”
Sy Qureshi said that when he was the Chief Election Commissioner in 2012, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed with IFES. The Election Commission had done the same agreement with several other agencies and election management bodies.
The agreement was reached so that the training and resource center of the Election Commission i.e. India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM) could be trained to interested countries.
Qureshi said that it was clearly stated in the MoU that there would be no financial and legal responsibility on any side. This condition was placed in two different places, so that there is no scope for any ambiguity. In any way, the mention of money in any way about this MoU is completely false.
Explain that the document of the agreement between two or more sides is a memorandum. In this memorandum, the outline of a common program is fixed and the things set for working together are recorded.
