Amid a conflict over the US tax bill, President Donald Trump has called Tesla CEO Ellon Musk a smart man. Trump said in an interview on Fox News on Sunday, “Musk is a brilliant person, but he was a little angry, which was not right.”
Trump said, ‘I have not talked to him much, but he is a smart man. I know he will always perform well. He campaigned for me during the election. But they were upset with cancellation of tax deduction on electric vehicles. I do not want everyone to have an electric car. This is a difficult thing for them.
Tesla CEO Ellon Musk took over the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) on 20 January 2025. However, he resigned from the post on May 28 due to displeasure with Trump’s Tracks and Speaking Bill. Trump is in support of this bill, while against Musk.
Trump is also called ‘Big Beautiful Bill’. Musk called the bill ‘completely madness and destructive for the country’. According to Musk, this bill gives subsidy to the past industries, but suppresses future techniques such as renewable energy, electric vehicles and data centers.
Musk said- Big Beautiful Bill threatens for American industries On June 28, Musk criticized the Big Beautiful Bill through a post on X on his 54th birthday. He said that the bill proposes to abolish wind and solar subsidy by 2027 and additional taxes have been levied on Green Tech projects related to China.

- America debt will be bankrupt: Calling the bill as ‘disgusting distortion’, Musk said that this bill would make America insolvency. He warned that this could prove to be a political suicide for the Republican party. According to the Congress Budget Office (CBO), the bill can generate a new debt of more than 250 lakh crore rupees in the next 10 years. The bill has been made permanent in 2017 tax cuts, and new tax brakes have been added. The rich class will get the most benefit of these. On an average tax relief up to Rs 10 lakh, while the poor class will get a financial burden of about Rs 1.33 lakh.
- Millions of jobs in America will end: Musk wrote on the social media platform X- ‘This bill will eliminate millions of jobs in America and make our country strategically weak.’ According to Musk, this bill subsidize the ‘past -past industries’ but suppresses future techniques such as renewable energy, electric vehicles and data centers from taxes. The bill proposes to abolish wind and solar subsidy by 2027 and additional taxes have been imposed on Green Tech projects associated with China.
- 70 lakh health, 30 lakh food will be out of subsidy: According to Musk, this bill adds conditions in social security schemes such as Medicade and SNAP, which will be deprived of the eligible people with help. He called it ‘cruelty in the name of administrative process’. According to the CBO estimate, 70 lakh people can be out of the Medicade and 30 lakh people due to the demand for excess documents and strict eligibility check.
