Who are Gig workers?
According to the 2020 Social Security Code, the Gig Workers are those who work outside the traditional job structure. They get payment according to their work. These include freelancer, cab driver, food delivery employees and other on-demand jobs.
Advantage of Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY)
Under PM-JAY, every family gets insurance cover of up to Rs 5 lakh annually. This scheme is applicable across the country and also covers already existing diseases from day one. Now Gig workers registered on e-labor platforms will also be able to take advantage of this scheme.

How to register for e-labor card?
These things are required for registration on e -ram portal
Aadhaar number
Link to Aadhaar Mobile Number
Saving Bank Account Number and IFSC Code
If the mobile number of a labor is not link to Aadhaar, it can register through biometric verification by going to the nearest Common Service Center (CSC) or State Services Center (SSK).
Process to apply for e -ram card online
Go to the portal: Go to the official website of E -ram www.eshram.gov.in.
Generate OTP: Click on ‘Send OTP’ by entering the link mobile number from Aadhaar.
Do Aadhaar Verification: Enter OTP and accept the conditions.
Fill the information: Fill personal information, fill address, educational qualification, nominee and bank information.
Submit the form: Choose the type of business and work and submit the form.
