Gurugram: Rajat Sharma, Chairman and Editor in Chief of India TV, has described deep fakes and digital arrest as the biggest challenges of today. He said that the area of Mewat and Nuh has become its biggest stronghold, where new age boys are being trained. This danger is very big, society needs to be made aware of it, this challenge is a big threat to the whole world. Technology is being used on a very large scale and it is very difficult to explain it to people. Rajat Sharma was speaking at a program organized in Gurugram on the occasion of the annual conference of Rotary District 3011.
‘Rajat Sharma in Rotary Court’ program
Rotary Club members gave a warm welcome to Rajat Sharma in a program organized in a hotel in Gurugram adjacent to Delhi. After that the program ‘Rajat Sharma in Rotary Court’ started. In this program, Rajat Sharma expressed his views on his experience and challenges of media and also answered people’s questions.
Distrust spreading regarding digital media
While Rajat Sharma shared his experience regarding newspapers, broadcast media and digital media, he also considered the spread of distrust in the society regarding digital media as a challenge, where anything is being made viral without checking its authenticity. He told that one such platform is YouTube. Even someone who has no experience in making videos is uploading videos on this platform indiscriminately. And all this is being done to get views and earn some money.
Government needs to make law
He told that deep fake and digital arrest have emerged as the biggest challenge, about which people are not ready to understand even after explaining a lot. He mentioned his own incidents of deep fakes and said that all this is happening because there is no control over them. Therefore the danger is great. The government needs to make a law. The law should be such that people who carry out such incidents sitting in other countries can also be reached.
Risking life to make reels
Rajat Sharma told how people are risking their lives to make reels. People are becoming victims of this incident due to not getting views. There is loss both emotionally and financially. This is a different threat. He said that Rotary Club has worked for the society, now they should make the society aware about this new challenge. We should try to make the society aware.
