Decision on income tax appeal will not be delayed in your favor, then it will not be late for the refund money – Income tax appea

Despite the decision coming in favor of the taxpayer in the disputed cases of income tax, it takes a long time to get the refund. This problem is going to end. Indeed, the taxpayer has to re -apply with the Income Tax Department to follow the order. Since this process is offline, it is too late to get refunds. This means that refund money is stuck for a long time. Now this problem is going to end. Let’s know about this in detail.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in Union Budget 2025, “I promised in my speech (budget) of July 2024 that all processions would be digitized and paperless within the next two years. It will also include orders related to the appeal. I will also include it. It is happy to announce that the process is now being digitized. ” Following this order of the Finance Minister, the Income Tax Department has launched a new feature on its e-filing portal.

This feature on the e-filing portal is available under the name ‘Request for Order Giving Effect’. The use of this feature will now be implemented soon. Following the appeal will not take much time as before. To understand the benefits of this feature, it is necessary to understand the current system.

If a taxpayer is dissatisfied with the order of the Income Tax Department, then the Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals), Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT), appeals against him in the High Court or Supreme Court. For this, he has to deposit the amount related to the dispute with an appeal. If after hearing the appeal, the verdict comes in favor of the taxpayer, then he has to re -apply to the Income Tax Department to follow the decision. Only then does the decision apply and the amount deposited on his behalf gets it back. This entire process takes a long time.

What does it mean for taxpayers?

1. Early disposal of appeal: The time taken to follow the order on the appeal from the new feature will decrease considerably. With this, taxpayers will not have to wait for a long time for refund or necessary adjustment.
