According to the news, a Standing Committee of Parliament on agriculture, animal husbandry and food processing said in its report on Wednesday that the aim of PMFBY (Pradhan Mantri Crop Insurance Scheme) is to provide financial assistance to farmers in the event of crop loss due to natural disasters, pest attacks and other adverse conditions. The report said that the committee suggests that the damage caused to crops by stray animals can be considered covering under the Pradhan Mantri Crop Insurance Scheme so that farmers whose crops are destroyed by stray animals are entitled to compensation under the Pradhan Mantri Crop Insurance Scheme.

The committee asked the government to resolve issues such as delay in issuing funds and inadequate compensation for damage, so that the effectiveness of the scheme could be improved. The committee said that Health Insurance Scheme for all citizens of the country- On the lines of Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), if the government provides free compulsory crop insurance to small farmers with land up to 2 hectares, then it can have a great impact on the financial stability of small farmers.
