In June, the price of homemade plate (food) has seen an increase in the price of tomatoes. According to Crisil’s ‘Roti, Rice, Rate’ report, the price of tomatoes increased by 36% due to an 8% decrease in the arrival of tomatoes, increasing the cost of the plate. Apart from this, consumers also faced an increase of 4% in potato prices. In case of non -vegetarian plate, the price of broiler chicken increased by 5%, which further increased its cost.

Crisil Intelligence Director Pushish Sharma said that the prices of vegetables may increase further due to seasonal changes, which can lead to further increase in the cost of the plate. Onion prices are also expected to increase a slight increase due to lower arrivals and limited release of Rabi stock, while in terms of tomatoes, the price may climb due to weak heat sowing.

However, the report also reported that on an annual basis, the price of vegetarian plate in June has decreased by 8% and the price of non -vegetarian plate by 6%. The reason for this is said to be very high in June last year.
