According to information received from sources, the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) has approved the new tariff regulation, which has cleared the way to cut CNG-PNG prices.
How is the price of CNG or PNG decided?
Till now CNG and PNG prices depended on the distance as far as your area is from the gas filling station or pipeline. Meaning, the farthest area, the more expensive gas. But now the unified tariff system is being implemented under the new rules. It will not have a distance, but will have the same rate everywhere inside a zone.

Now CNG and PNG can be found in the same rate like Delhi in cities like Ghaziabad, Meerut. The cities which were still paying more due to the distance are expected to reduce prices. Companies will also get incentives to increase the connection of CNG-PNG in the remote area, which can also improve both gas access and price there.
How many zones will be now?
Till now the entire country was divided into 3 zones. Now this number will be reduced to only 2 zones, so that more cities will get the benefit of unified tariffs.

Why the new tariff system brought?
