Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore
Champions Trophy 2025 will start in hybrid model from 19th of next month. The Indian team will play all its matches in Dubai while the remaining matches will be played in Pakistan. However, before this, Pakistan is being criticized a lot regarding the Champions Trophy. It is being claimed in media reports that there is no hope of Pakistan’s stadiums being ready by the Champions Trophy, in such a situation the tournament can be organized in some other country. Or the entire tournament can be held in UAE. Amidst all this speculation, now a big update has come out from Pakistan Cricket Board i.e. PCB.
A total of 15 matches will be played in the Champions Trophy 2025 and it will conclude with the final match on March 9. Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium of Pakistan, Gaddafi Stadium of Lahore and National Bank Stadium of Karachi are going to host the Champions Trophy matches. However, all these stadiums have not been completely ready yet. Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board has rejected speculations that the ICC Champions Trophy, starting on February 19, will be held in another country due to delay in repair work at three stadiums. Champions Trophy matches in Pakistan will be held at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium and National Bank Stadium in Karachi while India’s matches will be held in Dubai.
Will the stadium be ready on time?
A PCB source said the presence of the ICC contingent confirms that the tournament will be played in Pakistan. He said that Pakistan Cricket Board has spent about Rs 12 billion on the renovation of stadiums. We issued the first statement about the ongoing work at the stadium because the media was spreading rumors without checking the facts.
ICC team will inspect
Media reports say that ICC will send a team to Pakistan to inspect all three stadiums of Pakistan. If the venues are not ready to be handed over on February 12, the entire tournament could be shifted to the UAE. However, PCB says that the work on all three stadiums will be completed by the first week of February. Pakistan will host the Champions Trophy successfully.
