Japan Airlines said on Thursday morning that there has been a cyber attack on its system. This has affected its domestic and international flights. Information about the system failure was received at 8:56 am local time.

Airlines have currently stopped selling tickets for both domestic and international flights. Many flights at Japan’s Haneda Airport have been delayed by up to 50 minutes.

Jnanpith Award winning Malayalam writer MT Vasudev Nair passes away, cremation to be held in Kozhikode; 2 days state mourning in Kerala

Great Malayalam litterateur and Jnanpith awardee MT Vasudev Nair passed away. He was 91 years old. Nair was undergoing treatment for the last one month. On the morning of 16 December, he was admitted to the hospital due to difficulty in breathing. His mortal remains will be taken from the hospital to his Kottaram Road home. The general public will be able to have darshan till 4 pm. The last rites will be performed at Mavoor Road crematorium at 5 pm.

In a career spanning seven decades, Nair wrote 9 novels, 19 collections of short stories, directed 6 films, about 54 screenplays and many essays and memoirs. The Kerala government has declared state mourning on 26 and 27 December on Nair’s death.

Crane collapses while building jetty at Gujarat’s Okha Port, 3 laborers killed

Three laborers died on Wednesday when a crane collapsed at the jetty construction site at Okha Port in Gujarat’s Devbhoomi Dwarka district. These include an engineer, a supervisor and a labourer. District Collector GT Pandya said that this jetty is being built by Gujarat Maritime Board and orders have been given to investigate the accident.
