Mayor Nicusore Dan of Bukharest has won in the presidential elections held in Romania. He defeated pro -Trump leader George Simian in a tough match. After the counting of all the votes, Dan received 54.17% of the votes, while his opposing candidate Simian got 45.83% votes.
This victory is also special because in two weeks ago, Simian got more than Dan (40.96%) while Dan got only 20.99% of the votes. Dan made a great comeback in the final round.
Earlier, the results of the 2024 presidential election were canceled due to Russia’s interference and allegations of disturbances. After this elections were held again. Simian was seen to have an edge in pre -polling surveys, but Dan’s return in the final stages overturned the match.
Dan’s agenda was a supporter of European. He promised that he would make laws and administrative reforms, will continue to help Ukraine and strengthen relations with Western countries.
At the same time, Simian launched a ‘Romania First’ campaign in Trump’s style, which was said to make a short distance from the European Union policies, reduce tax and reduce military help to Ukraine.
