The word ‘bomb’ was used by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in the context of Congress leader Ramesh Chennithla being the next Chief Minister of the state. The Congress has retaliated on this statement of Pinarayi. The Congress said that the bomb is in the Marxist Communist Party (CPI -M) and not in our party. In fact, Chief Minister Vijayan had indirectly sarcastically on the Kerala unit of the Congress, saying that the discussions about Chennithla being made the next Chief Minister of the state are like a bomb. He also said that such discussions can cause major problems in the Congress party. This statement in Thiruvananthapuram industrialist B.K. Ravi came during the program organized in honor of Pillai, in which Chief Minister Vijayan was also present.

“Bomb may prove explosive”

At the event, a man referred to Chennithla as the next Chief Minister of the state, after which Vijayan reacted to the comment. He said that this bomb could prove to be explosive in the Congress. Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Kerala Legislative Assembly VD Sathishan dismissed Vijayan’s statement and said that there is no Chief Ministerial candidate in the Congress other than him. Referring to the “factionalism” going on in the CPI (M), he said that the Chief Minister should avoid such a joke.

Satishan accused Vijayan that senior leader V.S. Achuthanandan was tried not to give tickets in the 2006 assembly elections, after which Achuthanandan had to contact the Polit Bureau. He also said that when Vijayan was the Secretary of CPI (M) in 2011, he had stopped the leftist parties from forming the government, because he feared that Achuthanandan could become the Chief Minister.

“No differences on this subject in party”

Ramesh Chennithla also reacted to the issue and said that there are no differences on the subject in the party. He said that all the members of the party are focusing on the upcoming panchayat elections and are far from any dispute on this subject. He said, “There is no bomb in our party. The bomb is in the CPI (M). The Chief Minister should worry about when the bomb would explode. ”Chennithla also said that he did not react to Vijayan’s comments in the program because he did not want to harm the dignity of the program.
