Big news for electric cars and scooters! Government changes rules, more money will have to be repaid for charging EV at night – Electric car and scooter vehicle government change changes rules no have to pay more on charging ev in night

If you own the electric vehicle (EV) and it has become your daily habit to charge it at night, then this habit is going to be overshadowed on your pocket. The Kerala State Electricity Regulatory Commission has released new guidelines regarding EV charging, under which charging at night will become 30% expensive. Let us know what this new rule says and how it will affect EV users.

What is the new rule

A new rule has come in Kerala for those running electric vehicles (EV) which will directly affect the pockets of those who run the EV. From June 1, 2025, if you charge your EV a day, you will have to pay 30% less money, but if you have charging charging at night or morning, you will have to pay 30% more charge.

What is a new time table?

From 9 am to 4 pm (Solar Time): Charging is cheaper at this time.

Non-Solar Time from 4 pm to 9 pm: This time charging is expensive.

For example, if you used to charge the car for the first 100 rupees, now the same charging in the day will be done for 70 rupees. But if you charging at night, you may have to spend up to Rs. 130.

Where is this rule applicable?

These rules will apply only to public charging stations.

If you charge your car at home, then this change is not for you.

Why was this change done?

The government wants people to make charging at most of the day when solar energy i.e. solar power is available. This will also save electricity and reduce the burden on the system.

Effect on solar power -powered charging stations

Charging stations where solar power plants are set up, if they are unable to use the generated electricity properly between 9 am and 4 pm, they may be harmed because the number of electricity taken from the grid will not be equal.

What should EV owners take care of?

Now EV people will have to take full care of not just while driving, but also when and where to charge. If charging wisely, you can save good money. Overall, the government is encouraging people for charging in solar time. If you also run the EV, then now not only the root, charging time will also have to be planned.
