Champions Trophy 2025: Champions Trophy 2025 is being organized on Pakistani soil and the Pakistan Cricket Board is trying its best for this, because no ICC tournament has been held in Pakistan since 1996. But BCCI had refused to send the cricket team to Pakistan. After this it was decided to get it done on hybrid model. India’s matches will be held in UAE. Whereas in Pakistan, the matches of this big tournament will be held on the grounds of Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi. For this, repair and renovation work was going on here. There are concerns about whether these stadiums will be completely ready by the time of the Champions Trophy and whether the PCB will have time to test the new facilities added to them. But news of relief for the PCB has come out and it has been told that the stadiums being renovated for the Champions Trophy will be handed over to the PCB by February 5.
Tri series will be held before Champions Trophy
Pakistan cricket team has to participate in the tri-series before the Champions Trophy 2025. Apart from the Pakistani team, teams from New Zealand and South Africa will participate in the tri-series. All the matches of the tri-series will be held in the newly built stadiums of Karachi and Lahore. So that these stadiums can be tested during the series. Champions Trophy is starting from 19th February.
Stadiums will be completely ready by February 5
Karachi’s National Stadium General Manager Arshad Khan said that the renovation work will be completed by the end of January and it will be handed over to the PCB on February 5. The situation of Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore is also the same. PCB has spent 12 billion Pakistani rupees on the renovation of these two stadiums and Rawalpindi Stadium. Some changes have been made in the National Stadium of Karachi. A five-storey building is nearing completion. This building will be equipped with new facilities. There are ICC anti-corruption, anti-doping unit and physiotherapy rooms on its grounds. While two dressing rooms equipped with facilities are present on the second floor.
New chairs installed in the stadium
Arshad said that the number of corporate boxes has also been increased and now about 1000 people can sit in them. New chairs have also been installed in the stadium for the fans. The number of seats has also been increased and some new toilets have also been prepared. Arrangements for floodlights have also been made outside for practice. Similar facilities have also been added to Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
A total of 8 teams are participating in the Champions Trophy 2025. In these, Pakistani team has qualified by being the host. The remaining 7 teams had made it to the top-8 in the points tables of the World Cup 2023 and qualified. Apart from Pakistan, teams from India, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, New Zealand, England, Australia and South Africa will participate in the Champions Trophy 2025.
